Richard has served at Madera Rescue Mission’s chapel services for over 13 years. He was first introduced to the mission’s ministry during a call-to-service outreach sponsored by Yosemite Lakes Community Church. Richard first met Keith Carnes and some disciples from the mission who were working the Rescue Mission Booth. Of all the ministry opportunities available through Yosemite Lakes during outreach that, the Rescue Mission was the best fit for where the Lord was leading him.
Richard and his wife, Patricia, have been married 43 years. They had two sons and have four grandchildren. They decided to settle in the foothills after serving in the U.S. Navy for 26 years. After Navy retirement, Richard had a second career as a public school teacher for 14 years, with the majority of that time in Special Education, retiring at the Bass Lake School District. Patricia is a retired Registered Nurse with over 20 years at the Fresno VA Hospital. They now reside in Coarsegold, where they also enjoy time with their grandchildren. Richard is honored to serve on the Mission Board.
