Through the Acute Condition phase we meet the client in their pain and offer all of the essentials beginning with Chapel services, food, shelter, a shower and clothing. It’s at this point we can interject our love and extend to them an opportunity to enter the Cure Phase. This is where God has an opportunity to uproot the primary issues that are separating the person in question from the New Life the Lord desires for them as they move towards total restoration in the final stage we call the Conclusion.
“I never realized that a nickel bag of weed would lead me down the road it did. Self-medicating made it possible to escape the life I created for myself, and as it turns out, it got worse every day. I had no idea this place had what it took to straighten me up, but God knew!” (RM- Graduate/Intern)
The Cure Phase is where we have an opportunity to promote the New Life only found in Jesus Christ in what we call the Discipleship Recovery Program. Many of our program participants have become so sick and tired of the lives they are living, they reach out almost in desperation, and it’s here where we meet them, broken and looking for more than a hand out; now they’re looking for a hand up.
During the 18 month in-patient portion of the Discipleship Recovery Program we focus on transformation and renewal. This comes from an understanding of who we are as fallen man, and is further reinforced through class time, counselling and life skills training all wrapped in the security of a relationship that’s being built on a solid foundation. Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock:
You see none of us are exempt from the storms of life, and it’s only by way of Christ our Solid Rock that we can have any hope of overcoming those things that come up against us in life. – (The compassion and grace of Madera’s own allow this program to be offered at no charge to our clients. We recognize your gift as pivotal in the process of restoration, and we thank you.)
Madera Rescue Mission can currently house 18 men and 4 women in our 18 month Discipleship Recovery Program. Both genders are housed on site, but separated at the following addresses located at 332 Elm Street and 1305 Clinton Street in Madera, California 93638.
For enrollment into the Madera Rescue Mission Discipleship Recovery Program, we ask that all inquiries be made to (559) 675-8321. From there you’ll be asked some questions, or redirected to a person who can better assist your needs. Please make every effort to call between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Each applicant must undergo an interview to assess suitability before they are admitted and entrance is not assured due to bed space restraints.
In summary; “The Madera Rescue Mission is more than a soup kitchen just up from the Tozer Bridge and we have God and the good people of Madera to thank for that.” (MU-Exec. Director)
